The head of Nizhny Novgorod Metropolia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
On March 9, First Sunday of the Great Lent, Triumph of Orthodoxy, the head of Nizhny Novgorod Metropolia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Nizhny Novgorod. Co-celebrating with His Eminence was Archpriest Serguiy Matveev, rector of the Cathedral; Archpriest Alexander Myakinin, first vice-rector of Nizhny Novgorod ecclesiastical seminary; Archpriest Eugeniy Khudin, head of the diocesan department for education and catechesis; and other clerics of the city. Praying at the divine service were a good deal of the faithful.

Singing at the divine service were the choirs of Nizhny Novgorod ecclesiastical seminary and Nizhny Novgorod Orthodox female religious school.

After the Divine Liturgy the Primate of Nizhny Novgorod Metropolia officiated a molieben of the Triumph of Orthodoxy.
In his homily Metropolitan Georgy dwelt on the meaning of the feast and wished the congregation to spend the Great Lent with spiritual benefit.
